Is Palm in decline?

Once upon a time Palm had the PDA market on lock. When it came to personal organizers palm was the thing to have. In recent years with the explosion of the mobile phone and Wi Fi service Palm has had had competition left, right and center from companies such as RIM's Blackberry, Motorola Razor, among many other cellphone providers. Palm as also entered in the mobile market, but other companies have been providing new cutting edge products such as the new Apple I-Phone which is helping to lead customers away from Palm products.

Handheld computer maker Palm posted a quarterly loss after sales of its Treo smartphones were hurt by Apple's iPhone and other devices. The company also lowered guidance for the current quarter. Palm posted a fiscal first quarter net loss of $841,000, or 1 cent per share, from a profit of $16.5 million, or 16 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
